It is a pleasure to learn that The 6th Single Topic Conference of the Asian Pacific Association for Study of Liver (APASL) on the topic of “Acute Liver Failure: Asian-Pacific Perspective” is being held in the city of Karachi from December 10-12, 2009.
The presence of invited guest demonstrates both International and National speakers to deliver world class scientific speeches addressing our regional as well as global problems. We are all aware that various liver diseases, most notably viral hepatitis, cause extensive problems and result in morbidity and mortality. Acute Liver Failure is just one
of the manifestations of some liver diseases with a devastating outcome. Both the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Sindh recognize the importance of liver diseases and have enacted useful programmes for the prevention and control of hepatitis in Pakistan.
I wish the organizers every success in this important endeavour. It is also my pleasure to welcome all the international and national speakers and delegates to the vibrant city of Karachi, and to the province of Sindh with its rich culture history, and hope that the interaction between the attendees will enhance scientific understanding of liver diseases
